Join Sinner Saint Burlesque for our summer Inheritance series exploring female mythology and archetypes in which we showcase the art, talent, passions, intergenerational learning and legacy of women in our community. Thursday, July 24th at Re-bar, we exalt the Mother. The Mother is both herself and someone else. She not only care takes, but creates the world. Exploring the transformative state of maternity we are honored to have curated a powerful band of artists. These community productions aim to provide a spotlight on local artists of all kinds who connect with the archetype of the Maiden, Mother, and Crone, as well as to raise funds for the theatrical production Inheritance: Maiden, Mother, Crone, coming to Theatre Off Jackson in October 2014.
These three summer showcases: Mother, Crone, and Maiden aim to showcase the talents, passions and voices of mothers (of all kinds), older women (August 14 Re-Bar), and younger women (Sept 4 The Vera Project) from their own perspectives. This series strives at intergenerational learning and expression in support of women, they’re trials, successes, and ART! Please use this as an opportunity to network and share your mother-oriented business or service! This series also serves to support the production costs for the full theatrical work, Inheritance: Maiden, Mother, Crone.
Joseph Campbell said, ” I taught at a women’s college for nearly four decades, and as I said to my students, all I can tell you about mythology is what men have said and have experienced, and now women have to tell us from their point of view what the possibilities of the feminine future are. And it is a future – it’s as though the lift-off has taken place, it really has, there’s no doubt about it.”
