THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE CABARET! The Summer Series are three unique community productions aimed at providing a spotlight on local artists, and promoting community connection. Sinner Saint Burlesque is your host for our Summer Inheritance Series exploring female mythology and archetypes in which we showcase the art, talent, passions and legacy of women in our community. Thursday, August 14th at Re-bar, we exalt the Crone. These series also spark our fundraising campaign, raising capital and awareness for the theatrical production Inheritance: Maiden, Mother, Crone, coming to Theatre Off Jackson in October 2014.
The Crone has the wisdom and power to straddle both this world and the next. She knows the freedom of surrender and has the vision of multiple lifetimes that can guide the rest of us.
This Series unites performance art, storytelling, education and advocacy. You can expect to participate in the auction of local female artists’ work, see local performing artists, engage in community-building activities and conversation, and learn more about Sinner Saint’s full-length production at Theatre Off Jackson in October 2014.
Joseph Campbell said, ” I taught at a women’s college for nearly four decades, and as I said to my students, all I can tell you about mythology is what men have said and have experienced, and now women have to tell us from their point of view what the possibilities of the feminine future are. And it is a future – it’s as though the lift-off has taken place, it really has, there’s no doubt about it.” The Inheritance Summer Series is intended to help share a vision for the future of the feminine.
